Monroe, Franklin & Eisenhower, White Mountains

A long weekend of sun and heat in Montreal – my worst enemy.  How to escape it?  Get up early and drive to the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and hike above 5000 feet as quickly as possible.  The historic Edmands Path offered the perfect solution; a trailhead above 2000 feet, and considerate crasftmanship that has one gaining 2500 feet nearly to the top of Mount Eisenhower (4760 ft) without feeling a thing.  Once above treeline, the temptation to continue North-East along the Crawford Path to Mounts Franklin (5001 ft) and Monroe (5372 ft) was too great, and the conditions were superb.  Round trip with two decent breaks was just under 7 hours.  Time to check in to the Woodstock Inn for a great dinner and a drink; did I not mention this was a cushy weekend?

I hope to have a cabin here one day too
We ended the day going up Mt Eisenhower. This is the summit view to the North-East
